Pumpkin Pie

I have a list of projects I am trying to get done this week and though I have worked on quite a few, my new Pumpkin Pie pin cushion is the first I have actually completed. I happened to have an orange yo yo in my stash and I thought it was the perfect addition to the top.

Halloween Goodies

Just thought I'd share the items I made for card group last week. You can't tell from the picture, but the "Happy Halloween" sentiment on the card was embossed so it's raised and shine-y. The little bat is a shrinky dink. The "eek" is attached to a York peppermint patty because I couldn't find any flat suckers to use. The purple bats on the treat bag were cut and embossed using my Cuttlebug. What fun stuff have you ladies been creating?

The Race Is On...

Yeah!!! Fall TV is finally here! Around here we watch Amazing Race, Survivor and The Office without fail. How about you? We all need to watch at least one of the same shows so we have something to discuss!!

Hi girls! Just thought I'd say hi and share a tidbit from my interview with mom.

Question: Who do you think was the disciplinarian in Mom's household when she was growing up, Grandma or Grandpa Allington?

Well here is the answer:

My Dad never disciplined. Mother was the one that made us get our own switch, our own twig to spank us with and then we'd cry like mad so she'd think she killed us. I wouldn't say they were strict. We just knew what we could do and what we couldn't do. If we wanted to do something, Dad would be out in the field and so we'd ask Mom and she'd say "Go ask your dad" so we'd go out there and say "Mom says we can if it's OK with you" so we didn't have to go back and forth.

The front yard is done too! :)

My Backyard Haven

Well, we are officially done with the yard. Maybe just a little tweak here or there, but all major work is complete. Last night we turned on the fountain and sat by our fire eating peach pie. It was lovely! I'll be having a gathering to show it off!!

This and That

First off, I thought I'd share a cute photo of Jake. Savannah thought he should have a turn wearing the cowboy hat. As you can see, he didn't mind at all. His stomach is still pretty bloated and he won't eat dog food. Jer makes him pasta with hotdogs and sometimes he eats that (no, it's not our leftovers!) We've decided he's on hospice now and whatever happens, happens. I know that sounds mean, but I can't see paying for more tests and not getting any answers.

Next, here's a look at the card I made for card group last month. This month we will be doing Halloween items and I already have mine done, but you'll have to wait to see them.

Lastly, here's a reminder of our trip to Disneyland. I was reading through past blogs and how excited we were to go. There was so much fun stuff going on back then. Hopefully the new fall TV shows will give us something to talk about again!

I'm baaaack

Where has the last month gone? Well the vacations are over and so is the house hunting. We signed this morning on a new home! (minus the power lines) It should be ready around February or March, so you don't have much time left to enjoy the pool. Start booking your vacations now! In the mean time, keep an eye out for a table like Nat's. I'm finally going to get a brand new dining room set! I think it's well deserved after fourteen years, don't you? Miss you much!!!

Funny you should ask.....

Today has been a downer dealing with the fertility CRAP!! I am so frustrated right now. I am really at the point that I'm ready to just give up and call it good with my lil' Diablo. Things just aren't working out like I hoped. I had a FSH blood test today and was supposed to start my birth control pills to begin the next cycle, but when I went to the pharmacy today to pick up my pill prescription, they didn't call it in. The bad thing...it was after the U was closed and I had no one to call. I talked to the pharmacist and my prescription expired on SEPTEMBER 2nd!!! He said there was no way to refill that particular one, but luckily, I had the pill that they prescribed back in January that didn't expire and I was able to get a refill on that one. It worked out, I guess, but that is not the point. These people are retarded! I completely feel like I am a number this time around. If it's not one thing, it's another. After crying for hours tonight, I sat down and wrote a letter to let them know how I feel. If I can get it to the point that it sounds half way decent, I'll share it with you. I will call them in the morning to figure out what happened and hope that this pill was okay to take. I'm assuming that one pill won't make a difference, but we'll see. I'm sorry to just ramble on and on, but you just happened to catch me at a time where I can't hold it in. :( Love you all. Thanks for letting me vent.

What's going on?

I thought it would be fun to hear what is going on in all your lives. We should could share more than just our crafts you know. Sherie, I think you should post Clay's football schedule so we can all keep up and make it to some games if possible. Kathy, let us know what is going on with your kids. Is Bradon in school? Natalie, what is up with your situation. Are you back on a schedule with the U again? Karie - where are you? I would love to hear how things are going in your new YW calling. And Holly, we talk often but it is usually about work. What fun things are going on with you. Are the kids liking school, back to piano lessons?

Here is what is happing in our neck of the farm. Dr. Tannyhill's office called, the Dr. from Denver, and they said it is very normal for Randy to still be having the pain in his tongue. The bad new is it will be a matter of weeks or months before that goes away. The good news is that it will eventually go away. Randy has been very discouraged, as have I. We both thought that the surgery was going to be the answer to all our troubles and when everything wasn't immediately rosey we became very down. He is trying hard to get back to carrying on and living life like he wants it to be instead of the dreaded routine we lived for the past year. Hunting season is almost here and hopefully he will be able to enjoy himself this year.

This is Kaylee's last week off track. Her sidekick Emily has been in Lake Powell for the past week and we are anxiously awaiting her return. Boredom does not take long to set in when you have noone else to run with during these long days. A couple of weeks ago she started dance with Emily, Jazz this time, and is loving it. It is held at a studio in Sandy and is much more relaxed than Ballet West. She is back on schedule with piano and voice lessons and on Monday she starts tumbling at Bailies Gymnastics. She loves being busy. We are back using a daily chore chart and one of her chores is gathering the eggs. She is a good sport. She scoots the chickens out of the way so that she can get to the eggs. She did come and get Grandpa for help the other day when one stubborn white hen did not want to cooperate and began pecking at Kaylee's hands.

I am busy getting ready for the St. Louis cash and carry market. I am also working to finish the block of the month I am supposed to show at Pine Needles on Friday. I am also excited to be working on the Paper Doll Play block of the month I am designing. I have the first month all stitched and just have to write the instructions. My away from work project is a Daily scrapbook class called "30 Days Hath September". Each day I get an email that prompts my daily projects. It is a record of our everyday life for the month of September. Wouldn't you just love to have something like that of Grandma Allington's. Some day I hope that Kaylee or her children will enjoy looking at this glimpse of our lives.
