What's new?

I am finally getting around to posting pics of the work we've done around the house.

First up is Savannah's room. I did it all myself! Well, Jer cut the corners and held the top rail in place while I nailed it, but everything else was all me.

See the lovely custom bedskirt? I made and inserted that patchwork strip to match the quilt Holly made.

And here is one of the dressers Sue brought down and painted for me - love it! Notice the jewelry holders I copied from Pinterest. Maybe not the best, but it's a work in progress.

  Lastly is this fabulous frame I found at the DI yesterday for ten bucks. I am going to insert some cork and use it for Annie's artwork. Anyone want the painting for their basement???

My American Idol

I love this kid!!! He is so cute and silly! I can't wait for an album. I told Holly I would hang his poster on my ceiling and she called me a cougar! Anyone want to join the pride?

More Projects :)

I guess I'm the only one who posts on here anymore :) Here are some more projects we've done around here (and one Steve did at Bobbi's house). I know it looks a little crazy on here, but I think if you just click on the picture, it will bring up a slide with the picture and my journaling on it. I hope it works this way. I couldn't upload this many pictures, so I tried it a different way. Let me know if it doesn't work for you. Seriously peeps...I didn't even post everything I have...let's get going girls!! Last year I had Mom & Dad over for our usual "special" Valentine's dinner, but this year it was just the four of us. Here are some pictures from our Candlelight dinner.

"You've Got Some Splainin' To Do"

I took Luke to Smith's Marketplace to buy for Valentine's for school. We went down the aisle and I told him to pick out which ones he wanted. . . .

Luke: "Hey mom, they have handcuff's here! And there's enough for my WHOLE class!!"

Me: "Luke, we don't give handcuff's to people for Valentines :)" (especially red one's with leopard fur on them!)

Another mom on the aisle: "Well that would be a fun one to explain!!"

Brace Yourself!!!

Martha Stewart better watch out!! I have been quite the Suzy Homemaker these days :)

First, I started out by making a couple of recipes found on Pinterest. First, I tried a Crockpot Orange Chicken. It ended up down the disposal. GAG!! Next, was a Buffalo Chicken Taco recipe. SUPER YUMMY!!! This brownie recipe is "Okay"...a little gooey, alright, A LOT gooey, but the kids and I had fun.

Then, I wanted to "warm" up our TV room a little so I bought some curtains. Problem #1: They were WAY too short. Problem #2: 96" curtains are STINKIN' expensive! I had a certain look I wanted and I had found the perfect curtains. Traci gave me the idea to add a panel to the curtains. So, being the Suzy Homemaker I am ;) I sewed my own panels!! They are not super fancy, but they fit the bill. Also, you will never really see the panel unless you look behind my couch or you are in front of the fireplace.

Then, I have wanted to make a little blanket for my neighbor who had a baby. So I picked out some cute fabric and cut it, on my own, AND sewed it all by my self!!! "SHUT THE FRONT DOOR", you say! I know, what it this world coming to? Then I made a couple of burp cloths to match :)

Before all of this took place, Steve and I started a new project on our entry way from the garage. It is not quite finished, but here is a sneek peek :)




At this rate, you might just see me on the next DIY network series ;)

Have you seen Downton Abbey? If not, you must watch it! It is definitely something Sandy and Holly will love. It's on PBS, so it might be too fancy for the rest of you;) I just watched the season opener and can't wait for next week. Bates must come back!!!

A Banner Day!

Last night I had so much fun finishing up the banner that mom gave us!!! She gave us the best selection of trims and buttons!  E6000 and Fabri-Tac are my new best friends and you would never know that I didn't sew a single stitch when adding all the trims.

 Right now it is hanging in my sewing room because I still have my Christmas decorations up (I know, don't judge :) but for spring I am going to hang it along my fireplace mantel.

Sisters Gift Exchange

Friday we got together for what is the highlight of Christmas,

The Sisters Gift Exchange

as is our tradition we met up at Olive Garden in Murray for lunch, laighter and the goodies!!!! Each gift must be "made" by us and we are always working up until the last minute.  So worth all the effort! Let's just say there is quite a waiting list to join in this group!

Natalie made everyone an amazing set of Subway Art for the year and included a fabulous frame

Kathy cross-stitched fabulous Christmas pictures for each of us

Sherie used a ton of yo-yo's, buttons & wool to create individual bracelets and rings for us, each one unique

Karie surprised us with this cute appliqued Christmas pillow that matches the Autumn pillows we made at the Sisters cabin retreat

Holly made us each a stylin' cosmetic bag, each with a unique zipper pulls

Mom made each of us a darling fabric banner kit and she did the hard part of all the sewing and gathering of incredible trims and had each of them in a great project tote bag.

Elise made us each a great fall pillow with applique pumpkins!

Sandy made each a sample board with embroidered blocks, buttons and trims to match each home

The best gift of all is having each other!
